PANAJI: The Mormugao Taluka Chess Association (MTCA) announced that it will be hosting a number of chess events in the coming weeks, including an All India Rapid Chess Tournament, a half-day Blitz Chess event, and an All Goa U-9 State selection tournament.
The Celestial Minds All India Rapid Chess tournament celebrating 20th anniversary of the Celestial Minds Chess Academy Boston, USA, will be held on October 21, at The Centenary Chess Club, Patrong Baina.
The tournament will be open to all players, regardless of rating. The total cash prize is Rs 1,50,000, and there will also be 137 attractive trophies and medals to be won.
The half-day Blitz Chess event will be hosted by The Serials Ponda on October 22 at 9 am. The total cash prize for this event is Rs 40,000. The All Goa U- 9 Chess State selection tournament for boys and girls will be held on October 22 and 23 from 2 pm. The selected players will be participating in the U-9 Nationals to be held in Jharkhand in November 2023.
