It is learnt that a labourer from Bihar working at Ribandar for the Smart City Project died on Monday after getting trapped under a mud pile at the project site. The worker was trapped after a narrow trench collapsed. The work for the Smart City Project, Phase II which is being carried out after the monsoon was expected to recede, is causing inconvenience to the citizens. The rain water makes the mud loose where digging is being carried out. Hence there is every possibility of the top surface caving in posing danger to the citizens. Since trenches have been dug up there is every possibility of it collapsing. A pedestrian could meet the same fate as was the case with the labourer at Ribandar. It needs to be noted that the South West Monsoon has not receded completely from the state. This weather phenomenon is reportedly attributed to a developing cyclonic circulation over the South East Arabian Sea. Under the present circumstances it would be in the fitness of things to stop the Smart City works till the rains have stopped completely.
