The Goa unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha organised a Van Mahotsav programme to plant coconut saplings near the Pilerne football ground.
The secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Karan Govekar stated that deforestation has been going on in Pillerne at a fast pace to pave way for the construction of multi-storeyed buildings and therefore, tree plantation has become important to improve the green cover and maintain ecological balance.
"The residents should plant these trees and achieve the objective of making Pilerne clean and green. The coconut saplings will be distributed which the residents should plant in their respective areas and ensure that they are grown into trees," said Govekar.
He was speaking in Pilerne at the Van Mahotsav programme organised by the Goa unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha to plant coconut saplings.
The president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Amarnath Salgaonkar in his welcome address stated that the Van Mahotsav programme has been organized to create awareness among the general public about the importance of trees in the lives of humans. Every individual has to safeguard the environment for healthy living and maintain a clean and green Goa," said Salgaonkar.
