A 49-year-old man from Verna is suspected to have died of a drug overdose.
According to Verna PSI Shridhar Kamat, police received information from the Casualty Police section at GMC Bambolim that the man from Verna had expired in the hospital while undergoing treatment.
“On July 25, the man was admitted at GMC as a case of lithium toxicity which may be due to drug overdose and expired on Wednesday evening while undergoing treatment.”
“An autopsy was performed on the body and the final opinion regarding the cause of death is reserved for the reports of chemical analysis,” said PSI Kamat.
Verna police on Thursday registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 CrPC but has ruled out foul play and investigation is in progress.
