MARGAO: Sporting Club Virabhat secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Batora United 9-a-side football tournament with a 2-1 victory over Sanduel Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
Virabhat took the lead in the first half through Venson Paes, who found the back of the net with a well-placed shot. Sanduel fought hard to equalise but couldn't convert their chances.
The second half saw a similar pattern, with both teams creating opportunities. Virabhat extended their lead through Venson Paes once again, putting them in a comfortable position. Sanduel managed to pull one back late in the game through Jovial Dias, but it was too little too late for them.
Venson Paes was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, receiving the award from tournament organizer Franky Rebello.
