The Goa State Legal Services Authority observed “World Mental Health Day” as part of the Pan India Awareness and Outreach Campaign under the 75 years celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, in the august presence of Chief Guest Justice U U Lalit, Judge Supreme Court and Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority, and other Judges of the High Court of Bombay at Goa. The participants included health workers, advocates, Para Legal Volunteers, law students, NGOs.
Justice U U Lalit in his keynote address said that the Constitution of India has given the right to Free Legal Aid to the poor but they are unaware of it and that Legal Aid to the poor has to be qualitative of a superior order and, if Legal Aid has to be of superior order it requires Senior Counsels to extend benefits of their services to the marginalized sections.
Justice M S Sonak, Judge High Court of Bombay gave the welcome address. Justice Mukulika S Jawalkar, Judge, High Court of Bombay at Goa gave the vote of thanks.
