The Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav Blood Donation camp was held recently at Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nuvem. A team of doctors and nurses led by Dr Ravin Rego Hospicio hospital blood collection centre, Margao carried out the blood donation programme from 9.30am to 2.15pm. 39 units were collected after undergoing mandatory process of counseling and testing. Dr Ravin Rego stated that Carmel College was the 4th College to organize blood donation drive after outbreak of Covid and praised the organisers for taking such initiative. The programme was organized by the Lions Club of Nuvem Verna and the NSS unit of Carmel College for women, Nuvem. Lion Suresh Pai, Lion Dr Dilip Vernekar, Lion Custodio Fernandes, Lion Francisco Xavier da Costa and Lion Wilma Pereira attended. NSS unit was represented by Associate Prof Sumathi Sartardekar, assisted by the teachers and 20 other student volunteers. Digital display of the advantage of blood donation was made at the venue during the event.
