108 ST couples avail benefits of Matrutva scheme

As many as 108 couples from the Schedule Tribe community have availed benefits of the Matrutva scheme, which was notified in May 2018 for fertility treatment."A total of 108 couples have taken the benefit of the scheme and three couples are from my Priol constituency. Many couples have been blessed with a child after taking treatment through the scheme,” said Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude. As per the scheme, ST couples in Goa who are unable to have a baby after three years of their marriage are entitled to financial assistance for In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and Intra Uterine Insemination (IUF).The couple get financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh and the amount is directly transferred to the hospital. Couple can seek treatment in a government or private hospital and there is no income limit to avail the benefit of the scheme.
