Vasco police arrested two persons on charges of possessing over 4 kg of suspected ganja valued at Rs 4 lakh.
According to police reports, the arrests took place near Laxmi Temple in Kharewado, Vasco between 7.45 pm and 11.30 pm on Friday. The accused, Yesunand Souza (33), a native of Khanapur-Belagavi, and James Swamy alias Ayan Rafiq Shaikh (35), from Lohegaon-Pune, were caught red-handed by the police.
Souza (33) was found in possession of 4.028 kg of suspected ganja, while Swamy (35) was apprehended for aiding and abetting the crime. The police have registered a case under Vasco Police under Sections 20(ii)(b)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Both accused have been arrested and further investigations are being carried out by PSI Mayur K. Sawant under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
