The Crime Branch on Friday night busted an illegal online gambling racket operating in Zuarinagar and arrested three persons including a local agent for the offence. According to the information shared by Superintendent of Police (CB) Rahul Gupta, two persons Nishant Pujari from Velim and Prashantha Shetty of Udupi were caught red-handed engaging in roulette game. The police seized three Lenovo tablets, a Jio Fiber router, and Rs 18,500 cash with the total value of confiscated items estimated at Rs 1,12,500. Further investigation revealed that Noorsab Sayyed, a resident of Navelim provided the premises for the illegal gambling operations and was involved in facilitating online betting networks in Margao and Verna. He was subsequently arrested.
