The village Panchayat child committee, Siolim-Marna organized a Diwali competition for students of Std 5 to 9 in Siolim schools. The selected students made Aakash Kandils from biodegradable material and there was a special competition for the girl child to make decorative divyas. In all 31 students participated in this competition. The winners are category 1 Shrichya M Vernekar, Deepika D Jaiswal, Rutvesh S Vernekar category 11 Shubh Prashant, Siddi Kubde, Hansel Fernandes. for the Divyas only for Girl child the winners of the category 1 were Shreesha D Vaigankar, Saishma Palyekar, Bhargavi Bhat and category 11 were Ambika Vinod Satardekar, Saanavi S Raikar,Poorva G Chari. The judges for the competition were Elsa fernandes, Resource person from GIPARD, Dikshant Khochrekar (Engineer and artist), and Francis Dsouza, artist and decorator of Siolim. The Sarpanch Sharmila Vernekar thanked the child committee for lighting up the Panchayat ghar with the Aaksh Kandils and Divyas while chairperson Gregory Dsouza thanked the participants and judges.
