MARGAO: Benaulim Veterans came out on top in a hard-fought 3-2 exhibition match against AVC Veterans at SAG ground, Vaddie-Benaulim. Pele Fernandes starred for Benaulim, netting a brace in the first half to give his team a comfortable lead.
AVC Veterans displayed a spirited comeback in the second half, with Mario Soares and Jerry finding the back of the net to level the score. However, Stanley's well-placed shot off an assist from Luis Menino proved to be the difference-maker, securing the win for Benaulim. Benaulim's goalkeeper Manoj made a crucial diving save in the dying moments to preserve the victory.
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas, the chief guest, presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
