Beti Bachao Beti Padhao street play staged

A street play ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was staged by students of Viscount High School, Pednem on March 8 and 9 on the occasion of International Women’s Day.  The play was performed in the villages of Virnoda, Ozrim, Casarvane, Warkhand, Keri, Palaye, Mandrem and Dhargal.The initiative was jointly organised by North Goa Collectorate in collaboration with Children’s Rights in Goa (CRG), Dyanprassarak Mandal’s College & Research Centre, Assagao and Viscount High School, Pedne.Supporting this perspective, Virnoda Sarpanch Mangaldas Kinalekar said that men and women could have different kinds of competence as per gender, but society should give equal opportunities to all without considering anybody inferior.

The play was scripted through a workshop conducted by Prashanti Talpankar, Associate Professor of DM’s College along with Isha Parulekar and Rajmohan Shetye, teachers of the Viscount High School, Pednem.  Sailee Naik, a student, authored the play.CRG Director Snehal Salgaonkar and programme officer Namita Parulekar Naik coordinated the whole street play campaign, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.
