PANAJI: ‘De-scripting Konkani: Unveiling the Heart of a Language’, authored by Borim Parish Priest Rev. Dr Victor Ferrao and published by The New Age Printers, was released at St Francis Xavier’s Community Hall, Borim. The event, organised by Dalgado Konknni Akademi, The New Age Printers and St Francis Xavier’s Church, celebrated Konkani as a living and inclusive language uniting generations. Chief guest Rev. Dr Nishant Alphonse Irudayadason, Dean of Philosophy at Jnana-Deepa Pontifical Athenaeum, Pune, released the book, while Rev. Dr Socorro Mendes, Parish Priest of St Anthony’s Church, Siolim, was guest of honour. Konkani songs by Naomi and Anca Barretto added a cultural note. Speakers praised Fr Ferrao’s scholarship and urged Goans to nurture their literary gifts to protect Konkani. The event concluded with a discussion on linguistic unity and a vote of thanks by Fr Ferrao.
