Who will clear the bushes? Key road stretch in Margao left neglected

Wild grass and bushes have overgrown along the road divider on the Margao wholesale fish market road.

MARGAO
Who’s responsible for clearing wild bushes and the vegetation overgrown along the road divider on Margao’s wholesale fish market road?
Take note, the wholesale fish market road is not just used by fishermen and fish buyers every day, but is the major road stretch connecting the western bypass to the Margao KTC bus stand.
Yet, the half-a-kilometre-long four-lane road is dotted with wild bushes and plantations right along the road divider. Though the monsoons have almost retreated, no agency has intervened to clear the bushes and remove the eyesore along the important road stretch.
Though the Margao Municipal Council normally carries out grass cutting across the municipal area, sources, however, said the road stretch falls in the domain of the PWD, and it is the responsibility of the PWD agency to clear the bushes. “Apart from the migrant vendors making hay on the stretch, the road stretch right from La Grace Hotel to the wholesale fish market has turned into an eyesore with no one attending to clear the bushes and wild grass,” admitted an MMC official.
