Reacting to news of a student allegedly committing suicide due to non-availability of smartphones for online studies, Goa Youth Forward has blamed the government for not making arrangements for poor students for online studies.
The Goa Youth Forward has demanded restarting of the Cyberage scheme to provide smartphones to needy students. “Cyberage scheme should be restarted. The mobiles should be provided to students,” said Runal Kerkar, Vice-president of Goa Youth Forward.
Kerkar alleged that the ministers and politicians are unnecessarily utilising funds, however students are not provided education facilities. Making a charge on government spending on unnecessary things and neglecting the education sector, Kerkar said that Chief Minister Pramod has planned to buy a luxury car costing around Rs 45 lakh.
Also the cost limit for buying cars for legislators has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 35 lakh.
He said that four months back news has appeared about the suicide of youth due to the non-availability of the mobile phones, however, the Chief Minister has categorically denied the news that time.
Kerkar demanded that the government should immediately release the grants under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme and Graha Aadhar scheme.
