CM gives agriculture compensation cheques to 41 farmers

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday appealed to farmers in Surla village to submit their claim for agriculture compensation lying in government treasury.

He was speaking after distributing compensation cheques for Rs 1 lakh each to 41 farmers in Surla village. The function was organised by the office of the Bicholim Deputy Collector and Surla Panchayat.

Speaking further, Sawant assured the farmers that applications which fullfil the criteria and are pending for procedural formalities in the deputy collector’s office will be scrunitised on priority.

“A fund of Rs 3.5 crore is still pending with the Government, he added.

The chief minister also appealed to the public to adhere with the norms laid down by the MHA guidelines to combat and eradicate the dreaded coronavirus.

Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar and Advocate Shashikant Joshi also spoke on the occasion.
