The presence of dead fish floating in the beautified Vaddem Lake has caused alarm among local residents and activists alike. According to sources, the incident came to light after a few residents, who come for their morning walk, noticed a large number of dead fish floating in the lake.
Sources added that authorities later removed the dead fish from the lake before a foul smell could emanate from the lake. While residents suspected that sewage water is being discharged into the lake, activists have demanded that authorities like the Mormugao Municipal Council and Goa State Pollution Control Board take cognisance of the issue and carry out water-testing studies to ascertain the cause of the dead fish in the lake.
