PANAJI
The Don Bosco Youth Services for the province of Panjim (DBYS-INP) organised a virtual eco-event 'Celebrate Earth 2020' from September 5 to 27 with the aim to engage youth to protect the planet. Over a hundred youngsters from the Konkan region and other states pan-India -- Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi -- came together virtually where they learned to nurture nature through group-based games and activities.

Fr Jason Coelho, Director, DBYS-INP, said, “Celebrate Earth 2020 was a unique online event in Salesian India. More importantly, this programme was an inter-faith event and completely by the youth, of the youth and for the youth. The young volunteers did a splendid job in guiding and animating the 100 plus participants.”

DBYS-INP also joined hands with the Don Bosco Green Alliance which organizes various green initiatives for Salesian houses pan-India. The youth were divided into teams for group-based activities all revolving around the theme of celebrating and conserving our planet. Online quizzes, debate, essay writing, crossword puzzles, song composition, capture the flag, growing a potted plant, and wealth out of waste were among the plethora of events on offer.
