Former Velsao panch and social worker Roquezinho D’souza on Sunday slammed various groups and NGOs fighting the double-tracking in Velsao and Cansaulim area said that the issue had become a platform for groups and activists to turn into politicians.
D’souza was speaking to the media after the gram sabha meeting. He said that many of the activists did not have the love for the land but only politics in mind and these groups had never approached the panchayat for seeking support to the cause.
A livid D’souza then said that it had been noticed that the CM Pramod Sawant and Minister for Environment Nilesh Cabral visited the area but surprisingly the news was only seen in headlines the next day and the various groups had not been informing the locals, raising concerns if the only agenda of the group members was to be future politicians at people's cost.
