MARGAO
Ex-headmaster of Model English High School, Margao, Damodar Kavlekar passed away peacefully on Friday. He was born on May 1, 1932. His last rites will be performed on Saturday at 4 pm at Mathgramstha Hindu Crematorium at Pajifond, Margao. Husband of Freedom Fighter Kumudini Kavlekar, Damodar contributed to the field of Education, Journalism and Social Service. He had actively participated in Goa Liberation Movement with leaders like Purushottam Kakodkar, Freedom Fighter Sharad Gude and others. However, he refused to register himself as Freedom Fighter with Government Authorities as he did not get a jail term. Many ex-students of Model English High School as well as teachers have expressed shock over the demise of Damodar Kavlekar and paid their tributes and extended condolences to his family.
