MARGAO: Fatorda Veterans got the better of Ilhas Veterans 3-1 and moved to the quarter-finals of the 4th all Goa Veterans football tournament, organised by Batora United, at DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
In the very first minute of the game, Fatorda's Francisco Andrade missed to hit the target while Ilhas Veterans' Benny Pereira's shot hit the cross bar and went out of play. The first goal for Fatorda was scored by Camilo Monteiro by placing the ball over the Ilhas goalkeeper.
Changing over, Ilhas Veterans fought back and found the equaliser through Anil Palkar who beat Fatorda defence. As the match progressed, Fatorda scored two goals through Rosario Carvalho and John Araujo to seal the fate of Ilhas.
Anil Palkar of Ilhas Veterans was awarded man of the match by Francisco Fernandes, club member of Batora United.
