The Cinephile Film Club of the Entertainment Society of Goa will be screening the classic Italian film, ‘The Gospel According to St Matthew’ at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC complex in Panaji on April 6 at 6.30 pm. The 1964 film having English subtitles and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini is of 2 hrs 10 minutes duration. A story told with as much simplicity as one possibly could, Pier Paolo Pasolini's film ranks among the very best. As the title suggests, the film is inspired by the Gospel of St Matthew and using the text, it chronicles the life of Jesus Christ. Passolini himself was an atheist and his approach using Italian neorealism and brilliant storytelling is what makes this film one for the ages.
