The Margao police has registered an FIR against a person for raping a minor girl on the pretext of getting married to her.
The Police invoked provisions of the POCSO and Goa Children’s Act as the accused had sexually assaulted the victim girl, aged 15 years.
After the accused came to know that the girl was four months pregnant, he assaulted the girl and got the pregnancy aborted. The mother of the victim girl is alleged to have abetted the crime.
Sources informed that the girl had reportedly tried to end her life by committing suicide. Both the accused and the mother have also been booked for abetment to commit suicide.
