Stating that another Sonsodo is in the making at Canacona, Revolutionary Goans (RG) has demanded urgent cleanliness at the Garbage Treatment Plant (GTP) at Dumane.
RG leaders from Canacona visited the GTP Dumane, following reports that leachate from the GTP had been flowing into water bodies and paddy fields in the area.
“The municipal garbage plant at Dumane-Agonda is another Sonsoddo in the making at Canacona. The garbage treatment plant looks unattended. Since the garbage is uncovered and also due to heavy rains, the water flows through the dump area and enters the river. The same water further flows into the fields causing harm to the water table,” RG Canacona member Prashant Pagui stated in a press note.
“This beautiful village of Dumane-Agonda is turned into a polluted dump and villagers are suffering these crises of pollution due to mismanagement of elected representatives, as they seem not to be bothered about the suffering of the ones who have got them elected.”
Revolutionary Goans member, Canacona Sanjam Naique wondered how elected representatives would manage the State if they cannot manage garbage.
