PANAJI: The Mental Health Club (COPE) of Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar, organised a Suicide Prevention Awareness Session for students on September 10 to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.
The interactive session was conducted by college counsellor Irene George, along with student members of the club “ Manjari Madkaikar, Rafiq Khan, Franco Araujo and Sahil Awasthi.
The resource persons spoke on the causes and risk factors of suicide, warning signs to look out for, and the importance of seeking timely help from trusted people and professionals. Students were encouraged to break the stigma around mental health, speak openly, support peers and build a culture of care on campus.
The discussions and shared experiences reminded participants that mental health is important and that reaching out for help is a sign of strength.
