It’s the last day of the year and as Goa is all set to step into the New Year, and the Goan consumers await the Goa government calendar 2021, which is not available for sale yet. Those who visited the Government Printing Press in Panaji and Margao had to return disappointed. “Every year the consumers await eagerly for this calendar which used to be available for sale in the last week of December. This is the first time that this delay has happened,” stated Roland Martins, coordinator, GOACAN.
“When GOACAN inquired with the officials from the Government Printing Press in Panaji, we were told that the file for the printing of the calendar has yet to be cleared by the chief minister’s office. Another official from the printing press informed that the calendar will not be ready before January 15, 2021,” briefed Martins.
The sources say that the Central government has directed all State government offices not to print calendars and diaries for free distribution as a measure to save government funds. “However, the calendar is an item for which the consumers pay, and it is not a freebie, so why no calendar this year,” asks Martins. The Goa government calendar is very useful for all as it gives an idea of the public and restricted holidays, festivals, fests, fairs and zatras in the State of Goa.
