PANAJI: Governor of Goa PS Sreedharan Pillai has extended greetings on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi to the people of Goa. Governor in his message said that Lord Ganesh is a deeply venerated God, loved and worshipped by everyone with equal zeal. Lokmanya Tilak had observed that Lord Ganesh is “the God of everyman”. Hence, the Ganesh festival is a very popular festival. Tilak made the festival a National Symbol of Unity. During this festival time, one can see ‘Sarvajanik Ganesh idols, worshipped at every nook and corner of many States including Goa. The “Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav” serves as a meeting place for all communities irrespective of caste and community. The Governor further said “This festival is the time of family reunion, when all the members of the family wherever they may be located, return to their ancestral home to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with grandeur, solemnity and devotion.This festival epitomises the unity and spiritual harmony of Goa”. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has extended his best wishes and greetings to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. In his message, he said, “Chaturthi is an important festival of Goa, that brings joy, warmth of family, togetherness and festivity. The festival has been the symbol of Swayampurnata in the State, as it includes the natural, homemade and local products for the Ganesh murthi, decoration, pooja and food”.
