A 24-year-old man from Kerala but presently residing at Chapora was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotic drugs in Anjuna on Thursday, Anjuna Police said. Acting on specific information, a Anjuna Police team conducted a raid near the fountain at Gumalwado-Anjuna and apprehended the accused, Muhammed Ajmal TT, who was found in possession of narcotic drugs suspected to be Ganja weighing 200 grams and worth Rs 20,000 along with cash Rs 450 and a mobile phone.
The consignment was found hidden in the dickey of the scooter (GA-03-AL-7632).
Police conducted the panchanama, seized the drugs and attached the scooter.
An offence has been registered under Section 20(b) (ii) (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 against the accused who was later arrested. PSI Sujay Kogaonkar is investigating the case.
