Noted Goan writer Nalini Deshpande, 81, died of old age. She is survived by husband, son, two daughters, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Deshpande began writing at the age of 60 and never looked back after that. She wrote regularly for Marathi newspapers in Goa and Diwali magazines. Some of her stories even won prizes. Deshpande has to her credit a total of nine books, including two novels, four short story books, two personal essays and one book of poetry. Deshpande's first book 'Paithani' was published in 2006. After that she wrote and published many books, among which are 'Runanubandh', 'Kanyadaan', 'Manaswini', 'Jai Hind Master', 'Manaskanya', 'Soneri Kshan', 'Gharatt' and 'Hunkaar'. Her death is being mourned in the literary circle in the State.
