“The soil of Canacona is very rich and fertile. It has produced many jewels who have shined in various fields. Among these are the 64 special personalities who were born here and who have contributed to 64 different fields. Recognizing their valuable contribution, writer Sanjay Komarpant has weaved their stories in his book ‘Vazre’ which is a thing to be proud of to all Canaconkars,” stated Dr Manoj Kamat, principal, Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona while addressing the inaugural event held recently at Canacona.
Journalist and social activist Sanjay Komarpant’s book ‘Vazre’ got published at a local residence where Dr Kamat was speaking as the chief guest. On the dais with Dr Kamat were dignitaries Isidore Fernandes, MLA and deputy-speaker, Vijay Pai Khot, former MLA, Nitu Desai, president of the Municipality, Pandurang Gaonkar, executive editor, Bhaangarbhuim, Ganesh Gaonkar, sarpanch, Shristhal, publisher Kamalakar Mhalashi, principal Sudesh Naik, Purva Harmalkar as well as writer Sanjay Komarpant himself.
Initially, the deputy speaker Isidore Fernandes inaugurated the exhibition of the news clippings of Sanjay Komarpant’s journalist work in the past 28 years. Dr Kamat lauded Komarpant’s initiative of picking up 64 local personalities and throwing light on their contribution to the society.
