Meri Mati Mera Desh programme on sapling plantation and soil testing was organised by Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda-Margao with its NSS Unit in association with Village Panchayat of Cana Benaulim, Lions Club of Salcete and Leo Club of Salcete supported by Forest Department South Goa at Margao. Various fruit bearing, medicinal plants and flower bearing saplings ranging from Grafted Mango (Mankurad), Guava, Jackfruit, Custard Apple, Ram Fal, Cinnamon (Tikki), Crotons, Noni, Bayo, Almond, Teak, Insulin, Apto, Taman, Zarambo and much more were planted and distributed at Benaulim with Ushalaya Sisters of the Cross near Trinity Church, village panchayat premises at Benaulim and with students of Government Primary School at Benaulim. The programme kicked off with a talk on the importance of plantation and caring for the environment by Dr FM Nadaf the Officiating Principal of Government College of Commerce and Economics, Margao.
