The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs organized a programme on National Consumer Rights Day, at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto on Friday. The theme for the programme was ‘New features of Consumer Protection Act, 2019’.
The programme was inaugurated by Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Govind Gaude. Addressing the gathering, Gaude highlighted the need for consumers to be aware of their rights and not pay more than MRP (Maximum Retail Price) for any products they purchase.
Secretary, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, briefed the participants about the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and highlighted its key features.
Earlier, Director, Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Siddhivinayak Naik welcomed the gathering.
The programme also had a workshop by Adv Jagdish Prabhudessai, former President of South Goa District Consumer Forum on the theme ‘New features of Consumer Protection Act, 2019’. Siddhi Upadhye, Cultural Organizer, Directorate of Art and Culture compered the programme.
