Pernem police nab mobile thief

Pernem police has nabbed a man from Kerala on charges of stealing a mobile phone worth Rs 25,000 at Ashwem-Pernem.

According to Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, Francisco Fernandes of Mandrem had filed a complaint stating that his mobile phone was stolen from a scooter in the parking area at Ashwem.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and accessed CCTV footage. Based on electronic surveillance of the stolen mobile, the accused Abraham of Ernakulam-Kerala was nabbed and arrested under Section 379 IPC. The mobile phone was recovered from the accused.

Illegal sand extraction sites raided in Bicholim

BICHOLIMAround 102 cubic metres of illegally extracted sand of was seized by a Flying Squad in a joint raid at Amona and Navelim in Bicholim taluka.The flying squad, headed by Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, consisted of Suraj Kalangutkar (Assistant Mines Geologist), Sahadev Mote (Circle Inspector) and Gaurish Naik (Talathi).The seized sand was later dumped back into the Mandovi River, as per orders by the high court.
