Porvorim police have arrested Jayawant Hari Shirodkar (34) of Ektanagar, Porvorim on charges of illegal possession of 2.548 gms of suspected Ganja worth Rs 2,54,800. A complaint was filed on behalf of the State stating that a raid was conducted near Nana Nani Park between 8.10 pm and 10.45 pm on June 11 and the accused was caught red-handed with the drugs. Police have registered an offence under the NDPS Act against Shirodkar and PSI Pranita Manjrekar is investigating the case.
Culvert bridge almost ready in Agonda
CANACONA: Work on the Dhawalkhazan culvert bridge at Agonda is nearing completion and the contractor was busy removing the plates on Monday. “By Tuesday, we will fill both sides of the approach roads to the bridge to enable pedestrians to cross over and then the temporary water blocks (artificial Bhandaras) will be cleared to enable free flow of the river,” informed a supervisor of the bridge construction work.
