Professor Narendra Nath Ghosh of the department of Chemistry at BITS Pilani Goa campus has been nominated as the full member of the prestigious Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honour Society based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA. “Founded in 1886 at Cornell University (USA) Sigma Xi’s membership is only by invitation (nomination) on the basis of candidates’ research achievements or potential,” states Prof Ghosh who and his team has been engaged in remarkable research in the area of nano-science and nanotechnology. His current work is involved in the development of new nano-structured materials to address the issues related to energy storage devices, environmental pollution, etc. In addition to publishing American Scientist magazine, Sigma Xi provides grants annually to promising young researchers and sponsors a variety of programs supporting ethics in research, science and engineering education, the public understanding of science, international research cooperation, and the overall health of the research enterprise. Sigma Xi has nearly 1,00,000 members who were elected to membership based on their research achievements and potential.
