Pt Shirganonkar Bhajan contest from Aug 15

The biggest Bhajan contest in the country that has been held every year in Goa, Pandit Manoharbuva Shirgaonkar Smruti Bhajan competition, will be organised region wise from August 15 and the applications will be available from August 5. Last year, due to the pandemic, the contest could not be held, but this year the competition will be organised by observing the Central government’s SOPs regarding Covid, informed Govind Gaude, minister for Art and Culture and the chairman of Kala Academy. Gaude was speaking in a press conference in Panaji along with KA secretary Pravin Barad, Prof Ramrao Wagh, Ashok Parab, deputy director, Art and Culture and Pradip Gaonkar.

This year due to the pandemic there have been some changes in the conditions of the contest. The contest which is annually organised, has three categories - Men, Women and Children. However, there will be only two categories this year -- Men and Women. The children's Bhajan contest has been cancelled this year. To participate in each category there will be minimum 8 and maximum 12 participants.
