Pernem Police on Wednesday arrested a Russian national residing at Kannaikwada-Morjim on charges of illegally possessing drugs weighing 500 gms and valued at Rs 5 lakh in the international market. Pernem PI Pernem Jivba Dalvi received information that a Russian national, Mark Smyslov, had allegedly concealed drugs in a car which he was using on rental basis and would deliver the drugs to a prospective customer on Wednesday at about 4.30 pm near a restaurant in Temwada-Morjim.
PI Dalvi formed a team led by PSI Sanjit Kandolkar and police raided the site and allegedly caught Mark Smyslov red handed for illegal possession of the charas weighing 500 gms and worth Rs 5 lakh, which was concealed in the car. The accused has been arrested under the NDPS Act and further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Mapusa SDPO Gajanan Prabhudesai and SP (North) Shobit Saxena.
