PANAJI: ‘International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking’ was celebrated on Sunday. In order to create awareness regarding ill-effects of drugs, among youth and school students, Anti Narcotic Cell of Goa Police organised drawing/painting competition for the students of std V to XII of schools/Higher Secondary in Goa, slogan competition for general public/school students and 10kms Marathon race under the theme “Run Against Drugs” from Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium to Ferry Point, Panaji. Chief Secretary, Puneet Kumar Goyal, IAS flagged off the 10 kms run in the presence of IGP Omveer Singh IPS, DIGP Aslam Khan IPS, SP (ANC) Shobhit Saksena IPS and other police officers. Various awareness programmes were organised by all the Police Stations such as displaying banners, distribution of handbills and pamphlets to the general public and school students. Talks were also organised in schools for the students to create awareness among them regarding ill effects of drugs.
