Claiming there are a lot of illegalities noticed in the ODPs of the Mormugao Planning Development Authority (MPDA), Vasco BJP MLA Krishna Salkar on Monday said he has already brought this to the notice of TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane.
“We have noticed a lot of illegalities in the ODP formulated by the MPDA which I don't want to reveal now. I can only say that some zones that can never be converted have been converted and it has come to our notice,” Salkar told reporters.
“I have already placed this before the TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane and we are sure he will take the necessary action," said Salkar.
"Some decisions and initiatives by Rane are worth appreciating because hills have been converted to settlement by change of zones and it does not matter if he takes harsh decisions to curtail such illegalities even if the power of PDAs including SGPDA are curtailed.”
Salkar also said a chairperson would be appointed shortly for the MPDA.
"We understand there has been a delay in appointing a chairperson for the MPDA and I think the Government is seized of the matter. The new chairperson will be appointed in a week or two,” said Salkar.
The Vasco MLA also said there was nothing wrong in Rane’s decision to providing a personal email address to send in their complaints.
"I have heard the comments of Congress leader Amit Patkar and I don't think anything is wrong in giving a personal Email ID as this shows that the minister is taking personal interest in the peoples grievances.”
“There are a lot of illegalities but people don't come forward for fear of being targeted in case their names are exposed. Very often, people are more comfortable in confiding with elected representatives in pointing out illegalities," said Salkar.
