Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday said an integration between Vasco, Mormugao and Dabolim constituencies is taking place for the first time and exuded confidence that Mormugao would soon be the best taluka in the State.
Godinho was speaking to reporters after greeting newly elected Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Leo Rodrigues, a councillor from Godinho’s Dabolim constituency who was elected unopposed to the post.
"Good things will always prevail even if there are initially a few obstacles. I am glad that integration between Vasco, Mormugao and Dabolim constituencies is happening for the first time through the municipal council after Leo Rodrigues has been elected unopposed as the MMC Chairperson.”
“Mormugao taluka, which has the port, airport and railways, is an industrial capital and commerce starts from here. We have been the economic strength of Goa. Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar and I have been working in close collaboration and Leo Rodrigues being elected unopposed at MMC level has made this stronger and shown us another level of unity. We will ensure that we will unitedly make Mormugao Taluka the best taluka in the State," said Godinho.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said it was vital that the council stays united to bring about development projects.
"I congratulate Leo Rodrigues on his election as the MMC Chairperson and I will extend my full support to the council. Many long-pending projects are now taking shape and we will take the council into confidence so that we complete the remaining projects and also bring about new projects that are good for the city and its people.”
“Rodrigues will bring about more development projects for Vasco after taking all councillors into confidence and show people that he stands out as a chairperson with a difference," sais Salkar.
