Pernem police arrested a 34-year-old man from Tamil Nadu on charges of possessing 1.6 kgs of ganja valued at Rs 1.5 lakh at Paliem-Pernem.
According to Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, police was tipped that a person was involved in drug activities and they raided a rented room in Paliem, where ganja was found hidden in the kitchen.
The ganja was seized and the accused, S Sudhish of Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu was arrested under the NDPS Act. PI Dalvi said the Pernem police had booked a total of 19 cases and had seized drugs valued at over Rs 1 crore.“This year too, strict action against drugs will continue in the coastal areas of Pernem,” he said.Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Gajanan Prabhudessai and SP (North) Utkrisht Prasoon.
