BITS BIRAC BioNEST, Goa and CIIE - BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus organized Hackathon-2021 in online mode from January 26-28 wherein top three teams came with winning ideas. Hackathon, supported by Stademy, an accelerator that mentors start-ups from Goa and Australia, received applications from participants on the themes of health, genetics, water and waste. The innovations were based on technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics.
The top three winning ideas and teams were declared on the occasion. The first being ‘Visio-smart device enabling navigation for visually impaired’, a concept presented by team BITS Pilani, Goa. The second winning idea was that of the ‘Removal of emerging contaminants from wastewater using sustainable bio-material’ which was submitted by the SRM University, Chennai. The third concept was, ‘Ointment formulation for acne and anti-scarring using trash fish’ which was presented by St Joseph's College, Chennai.
Teams from colleges located in Goa, Bengaluru and Chennai participated in the three-day hackathon in online mode.
