Vaccination for youth aged between 18 years and 44 years got tremendous response from the residents of Calangute and other surrounding areas, as on an average daily 100 to 104 beneficiaries were getting vaccinated. The Primary health centre Candolim in collaboration with Calangute Panchayat, Lions Club of Calangute and Leo Club of Calangute has began vaccination for the youngsters aged between 18 and 44 since May 15 and it has has tremendous response. Medical officer Dr Roshan Nazarath informed that the vaccination centre is well managed by volunteers from Calangute Panchayat, Lions & Leo Club of Calangute. Till date nearly 800 youths have received the jab.
Calangute Sarpanch Shawn Martins has urged people to come forward and get jabs and follow strictly Covid norms like wearing of face masks, maintain social distancing and sanitize regularly.
He added since 18-44 yrs vaccination process has been stopped by government due to unavailability of stocks but once stocks are received it will start again. Calangute Vaccination Centre will now be open to those aged 45 and above as also frontline workers and differently abled from 9am to 1pm every day except Sundays.
