Union Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Naik on Thursday stated that the foundation stone for the proposed National Institute of Naturopathy and Research Centre will be laid at Dhargal in Pernem Taluka on the occasion of Dussehra.

He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the five-days free mega Ayurvedic Neuro Therapy Medical camp at Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem.

The camp was jointly organised by the Dr Manoj Sharma Ayurvedic Neuro Hospital and Research Centre, Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce at Pernem, Harmal Panchkroshi Shikshan Mandal, Lokmanya Ganeshotsav vishbvasth Mandal, Pernem, Directorate of Health and Services Goa (AYUSH Department) and Sandu Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Speaking further, Naik said Ayurveda and Yoga in India have been recognised all around the world.

“Till now, four camps have been organised in the State and around 20,000 people have benefited from them. As many as 4,000 people from Pernem taluka have benefited from this camp in Pernem,” said the minister.

Expressing gratitude to the team of doctors and volunteers for successfully conducting the mega camp, Naik said, “The potential to serve people through giving back to society is huge and something that we all need to consider.”

Dispelling the myth that Ayurveda takes longer time to cure, the union minister said he had personally experienced a miracle of ayurveda, wherein a person ailing with frozen shoulder got relief in a day after attending the camp.

Former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who also attended the function, praised the doctors for conducting the camp.

“The Mega Ayurvedic Neuro Therapy Medical camp is just a glimpse and once project of All India Institute of Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy Research Centre with medical college is set up, people of Pernem will benefit by getting permanent ayurvedic treatment,” said Parsekar.

Appreciating volunteers of Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce Pernem and Harmal Panchkroshi Shikshan Mandal for their involvement in making the camp successful, Parsekar said, “Education should not by limited to acquiring degrees but should also reflect the person’s behaviour, attitude and responsibility towards society.”

ZP members Ramesh Sawal, Tukaram Harmalkar, Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Shraddha Mashelkar, Virnoda Sarpanch Bharat Gawde, PMC Deputy Chairperson Prashant Gadekar, Government College of Arts and Commerce Principal Dr Filipe Rodrigues e Melo, Dr Manoj Sharma, Dr Datta Bhatt, Deputy Director, Ayush Cell and Matrubhumi Seva Pratishthan Goa General Secretary Suraj Naik were also present on the occasion.
