Advising students of Dnyanprasarak Vidyalaya that it was important to take a call on their career from Class 8 onwards, Speaker of Goa Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday said one of the reasons why most IAS officers come from other states was because they decide on answering competitive exams from very early stage in their career.
“Today, we find people from backward areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar pass the IAS and GPSC (Goa) exams. This is because they decide and prepare to answer competitive exams from class 8 onwards,” Dr Sawant said.
The Speaker was speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating a modernized science laboratory at Dnyanprasarak Vidyalaya School in Mapusa.
Chairman of Dnyanprasarak Mandal Srikrishna Pokle, mandal’s secretary Surendra Sirsat, Dnyanprasarak Vidyalaya’s headmaster Gurudas Palkar, PTA chairman Harish Melvani and others were present for the function.
Speaking further, Dr Sawant said getting government jobs will not only be difficult in future but getting jobs in privates sector will also be very competitive.
“It’s time for the youth to wake up and decide about your future,” he said.
The Speaker also urged the students to focus on reading and particularly to read biographies of leaders like former President, Dr Abdul Kadam.
