‘Om’ and other symbols are increasingly being used narco traders to market synthetic drugs, the police have said.
Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), also known as acid, is a hallucinogenic drug. Its effects typically include altered thoughts, feelings related with trance. It is marketed with symbols like ‘Om’ among foreign tourists, Police Inspector Suraj Halarnkar said.
Each square paper has a symbol and is sold separately and very often with different designs, he added.
The ANC sleuths on Friday nabbed a Nigerian with LSD papers having the ‘Om’ symbol on one side of the paper. The Nigerian, Prince Ezenwa was arrested with LSD sheets and charas valued at Rs 4 lakh. These LSD sheets had the ‘Om’ symbol on one side.
Ezenwa had earlier been convicted of possession of commercial quantities of heroin and was absconding.
The ANC had also secured a non-bailable warrant from the courts against him.
In Friday’s incident, he has been booked under various Sections of the Narcotic Act and the Special Court has remanded him to three days police custody.
