He is officially a managing director of a major unit, but has perhaps the least office space and workload in the State.

For over a month since he was appointed managing director, Dr Ajit Kosambe has had virtually no work to do and continues to sit idle outside the cabin of the other MD Dr Navasu Sawant.

Sources informed that Dr Kosambe has not been given any work at Goa Dairy and his desk is virtually empty.

Though Dr Kosambe was appointed as MD of Goa Dairy by former chairman Madhav Sahakari, no serious effort has been made to revert him to his earlier post.

It may be recalled that on April 10, then Goa Dairy Chairman Madhav Sahakari had suspended Managing Director Dr Navasu Sawant pending enquiry into irregularities and Senior Officer Dr Ajit Kosambe was given charge of MD’s post.

Dr Sawant had been directed to report to the personnel officer of the Goa Dairy every day during working hours. However, Dr Sawant had refused to relinquish the post on grounds that he had not received any notice in regards to the suspension.

On April 11, high drama had unfolded after eight directors -- Vithoba Desai, Aselmo Furtado, Rajesh Fal Desai, Baburao Desai, Rajendra Sawal, Dhananjay Desai, Gurudas Parab and Naresh Malik -- moved a no-confidence motion against Sahakari and he was ousted on April 26, having lost the confidence motion.

The eight directors had also directed Dr Sawant to prevent Sahakari from performing any function or any action, adding that orders regarding working of the union by Sahakari would not withstand without resolution of the board of directors.

Goa Dairy yet to decide on extra MD

PONDA: Even though Dr Ajit Kosambe continues to remain idle outside the cabin of the other MD of Goa Dairy Dr Navasu Sawant for over a month, the Goa Dairy’s board of directors are yet to decide on his posting.

When contacted for comments on Dr Kosambe’s peculiar situation, Goa Dairy Chairman Rajesh Fal Desai said: “The BoD will take a decision with regards to sending Dr Kosambe back to his earlier post. At present, we have not taken any decision in this matter.”  “But we will take a decision at our next meeting of BoD,” Fal Desai said.

Asked to explain the Dr Ajit Kosambe’s virtually zero workload and the government’s position in the matter, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Sanjiv Gadkar clarified that he had no role in the issue.

“The chairman of Goa Dairy has to take step in this regard and take a decision in the matter,” said Gadkar.
