In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old boy committed suicide at his house in Naik Nagar, Bicholim on Thursday.
While the motive for the drastic step was unclear, police said the Class 4 boy had been scolded by his grandfather sometime before the incident.
The boy is reported to have closed the door of a room and ended his life.
When family members opened the door, they were horrified to find the lifeless body and rushed him to the Bicholim Primary Health Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The father is a government employee and the mother is a teacher.
Bicholim police conducted the panchanama and sent the body for an autopsy, as investigations are in progress.
