Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday urged the business community to make Goa a preferred investment destination and revealed that the government has set a target of at least 75 concrete investment proposals in the current fiscal.
Sawant was addressing potential investors at the 2-day 'Invest Goa - 2022' conclave where he claimed the State had all the advantages with rail, road, sea and air connectivity.
Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and top government officials also addressed the event.
Earlier this week, Godinho had claimed that proposals from 19 companies had been formally logged through the meet which collectively proposed investments worth Rs 5,000 crore and a potential to create 1,400 jobs.
Among the 19 companies, two were American and one Dutch and letters of intent were signed.
On Friday, organisers claimed another four LOIs were signed including IT-sector companies. All the four promoters were from Gujarat.
The organisers said, several other companies are expected to file before the Investment Promotion Board their intent to invest in Goa, including one defense production unit, one electric vehicle unit, three MSME units, and several in the tourism and allied sectors.
"A lot of interest is generated after the new Industrial investment policy was released," said an official of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
The Chamber has decided to start a facilitation centre at its Panaji headquarters to collaborate with prospective investors and the government agencies, the official added.
